The short version
- We collect what it takes to run your golf: your account, your rounds and scores, your crews and outings, and your bag.
- Precise location is used only during a round or practice session you started, and raw GPS tracks never leave your phone.
- We never sell your data, show ads, or track you across other sites and apps.
- Everything you record is private by default. Sharing is a choice you make, field by field.
- You can delete your account in the app or on the web. It takes effect right away.
Who we are
ParHard is a working name for a product of The Schoeller Group LLC. We are the controller of the personal data described here. Questions about this policy go to support@parhard.com.
What we collect
You can use the course directory, the map and weather without an account. We collect nothing personal for that beyond the analytics described below.
Once you sign in or play, we collect:
- Account. You sign in with Google or Apple. We receive your name, your email address and the provider's id for you. If you hide your email with Apple, we get the relay address Apple gives us. We never see or store a password.
- Profile and bag. The display name and handle you pick, your preferences, and the clubs and ball you add to your bag.
- Rounds and scores. The course, the date, your scores, the game format and points, and the shots you choose to mark. Every round is stored as a list of events that is only ever added to, so a score is never lost or silently changed.
- Crews and outings. The crews you belong to, outings you create or join, RSVPs, and the names of the people in them.
- Invitees. Someone invited to an outing can answer and keep score from a web link with no account. We store the name they type and a key tied to that one link. Today we do not ask invitees for a phone number or email.
- Messages and activity. When the social features ship, crew chat, outing threads, direct messages, kudos and comments are stored so the people in them can read them. Moderators see a message only when someone reports it.
- Photos, later. When photo and video uploads ship, we strip location and device metadata from every file before it is stored, keep only the date and the tags you choose, and make every item private by default.
- Device and app analytics. Which screens are used, which buttons are tapped, how fast pages load and which errors happen. Not what you type, not your scores, and never your location. Details in the analytics section below.
- Payments. If you buy a plan on the web, Stripe handles your card. We store your Stripe customer id and your subscription status, never the card. If you buy in the app, Apple or Google handle payment and we receive the purchase status through RevenueCat.
- Support. If you email us, we keep the email so we can answer and follow up.
Location
Location is the most sensitive thing a golf app touches. These are the rules, and they are enforced in the code, not just written here.
- Precise location is read only during a round or practice session you have started, and only while the app is open. Never in the background.
- Raw GPS tracks stay on your phone. The only positions that reach our servers are the shots you mark on purpose. Delete the app and the track is gone.
- Near me searches use an approximate position, rounded on your phone before anything is sent. We do not keep it.
- Nothing social or public ever carries a position, a track, or a live "on the course now" signal.
- We never build maps or heatmaps from player data.
- Analytics and error reports never contain coordinates, and we turn off location lookups from your network address.
What we never do
- Sell your data, or share it with anyone for advertising.
- Show ads. ParHard has no ads today, and there is no ad tracking in the app or on the site.
- Run money games. Side games are points only. We never hold, move or settle money for a game.
- Put your private data into an AI model without your opt-in, per feature, in plain words. Today there are no such features. See the AI section below.
- Track you across other websites or apps. No advertising pixels, no cross-site cookies, no fingerprinting.
- Use face recognition on any photo.
- Guess a course fact. If we do not know something, the page leaves it blank.
Group scoring: what others record about you
In a group round, every player can keep the group's card. That means someone else may enter a score for you. Here is how we handle it:
- Every entry is stored with who recorded it and when. Nothing is overwritten. A correction is a new entry on top of the old one.
- You can see and confirm your scores. A round with unconfirmed scores says so.
- Scores from a shared round are visible to the people who played it, and to your crew when the round was a crew outing.
- Standings and season records are built from confirmed rounds. You can leave a crew at any time; the crew keeps its past results.
Sharing and public profiles
- Your profile is private by default. Nobody can find it by search, and it has no public web page.
- If you turn on a public page, you choose exactly which parts show: name, home course, bag, ball. Anything you do not pick never leaves our servers. Search visibility is a separate switch, also off by default.
- You can let your crews see your rounds. That setting is on by default and is in your account settings.
- Feed items, crew chat and messages are visible only to signed-in people you chose to share with. They are never on the public web.
- Your data never appears in our public API, our MCP server or any open download. Those carry course information only.
AI and your data
Today no feature sends your private data to an AI model. When one does, it will be off by default and you will turn it on per feature, after a plain description of what goes where. Any such feature follows these rules: only your own data, or group data every member opted into; model providers that keep nothing after the response; never used to train any model; every use logged where you can see it; and you can turn it off at any time. Licensed course data from partners is never used for AI at all.
Children and teens
- You must be 13 or older to have an account. If we learn that we hold data from a child under 13, we delete it. A parent can write to support@parhard.com.
- Players under 18 get stricter defaults: no public web page, not findable by search, direct messages only with people they share a crew with, and no access to the gear marketplace, which is 18 and up.
Retention and deletion
You can delete your account in the app under Account, or on the web at /account. You type DELETE to confirm. Here is what happens:
- Your profile, settings, bag, saved sign-ins and plan records are deleted. Your account with Google or Apple is untouched.
- Scores in rounds you played with other people stay, under the name "Former player". We do this so the other players' results and standings do not change. A round record is only ever added to, so the entry that held your name still exists, but no screen shows it once the anonymizing entry is in place. The shots you marked in those rounds stay with the round. Rounds you played alone are anonymized the same way, so no round record points back to you.
- Crews you own pass to a co-organizer or the longest standing member, or are archived.
- A Stripe subscription is cancelled for you. A subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play has to be cancelled there; we cannot do it for you.
Until you delete, we keep:
- Rounds and scores: until you delete them or your account.
- Invitee records from a web link: 12 months after the last activity, then deleted.
- Server logs that include network addresses: 30 days.
- Photos and videos, when they ship: removed from storage within 30 days of deletion and from backups within 90 days.
- Database backups: rolled off on a fixed schedule. Deleted data is gone from live systems at once and from backups when they expire.
Services we use
These companies process data for us. Each one receives only what its job needs.
- Supabase: our database and the sign-in system. Holds your account and your records, in the United States.
- Vercel: hosts this website and parts of the service.
- Stripe: payments for plans bought on the web. Stripe holds your card details; we never see them.
- RevenueCat: tells us whether an App Store or Google Play purchase is active.
- Apple and Google: sign-in, and app purchases through their stores.
- PostHog: product analytics, described below.
- Sentry: error reports, so we can fix crashes. Scrubbed of personal data before they are sent.
- Resend: sends our email, such as outing invites and reminders.
- USGS, NOAA and the National Weather Service: public data about courses and weather. No personal data goes to them. The app asks for a forecast by course, not by your position.
We do not share personal data with anyone else, unless the law requires it or you ask us to.
Analytics, in detail
- We use PostHog to learn which features are used and where people get stuck. Events carry an internal id for your account, never your name or email.
- No cookies and no browser storage are used for analytics, so there is no cookie banner. Nothing is kept in your browser between visits.
- Session recording is off everywhere. We never record what is on your screen.
- On screens that show your own data, element text is masked before it is sent.
- Free text, search terms, codes, tokens and coordinates are stripped from any URL before it is recorded.
- Nothing from your local development or a test build is sent.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can:
- See what we hold about you. Most of it is already in the app and at /account. Ask and we will send the rest.
- Correct it. Your name, settings, bag and profile are editable in the app and on the web.
- Delete it. In the app, on the web, or by email.
- Export it. Round history exports are a Plus feature in the app; on request we will export your data for free.
- Turn off product email. It is off unless you turn it on, and you can turn it off again in Settings.
If you live in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas or another state with a privacy law, you also have the right to know what we collect and why, to opt out of sale, sharing and targeted advertising, and to appeal a decision we make about a request. We do not sell or share personal data and we do no targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of, and we honor browser opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control by doing the same thing for everyone. We will never treat you differently for using a right. To make a request or an appeal, email support@parhard.com. We answer within 45 days.
Security
Data moves over encrypted connections and sits in encrypted storage. Private tables are closed to the apps by default and opened only through the server. Secret keys never ship in the app or the browser. No system is perfect; if a breach touches your data, we will tell you.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes. If a change matters to you, such as a new kind of data or a new use, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
